Square Meal review of Levantine: ? Write your review

Visitors to this younger sibling of Levant can expect a similarly seductive experience combining elaborate decor with ‘fresh’, ‘flavoursome’ food, just on a smaller scale. There’s comparable attention to design detail with rose petal strewn tables, plump cushions & a soft glow from ornate lamps, but the menu is shorter & cheaper than at Levant. Lebanese favourites such as aubergine dip with pomegranate juice & lamb kofta pepper the a la carte menu, but most people go for one of the various set menus, which offer a comprehensive selection of mezze, including a vegetarian option. Whatever your decision, be assured that portion sizes are as generous as the staff are friendly. Stick around for the belly dancers or even tarot card readers when parties are dining, & make sure to check out the ‘must-see’ toilets where a fountain cascades onto floating rose petals.

What a sensationally place. As you walk in you are immediately taken away from the hassled and fast-paced environment of Paddington and transported to a place of tranquillity, romance and warmth. The elegant touches are numerous… rose petal strewn across the tables, throws and cushions scattered around the seating, tea lights adorning each table, providing a soothing glow… the list goes on.

And then the food! We settled on the vegetarian feast for two and what a feat it was. The choice of mezze brought out was superb, the flavours blended together so well and the breads were varied and delicious. The main course of mousaka was sumptuous and flavoursome, served on a golden platter. The desert well… and just when we thought there could be no more, out came the mint tea. Altogether a truly wonderful dining and cultural experience.

P.S. Look out for the belly dancer, she'll have you out of your seat and joining in in no time!!!
