Square Meal Review of The Grand Union Public House ?

Grand Union started life in Camden in 2006 & has dragged its youthful (ie. studenty) NW1 spirit along for the ride during its expansion across London. Friday & Saturday are officially the party nights when there’s a late licence & DJs on the decks into the early hours, but the various branches do deals & specials throughout the working week. Fancy burgers, chips & pizzas (Hawaiians, meat feasts – they’re not snobs) are the mainstays of the menus, & there isn’t much over a tenner, although sides may tip your food bill into the teens. Drinks are similarly good value, with house cocktails at £6.50 or a back-to-the-80s £3.50 price tag during happy hour. Vintage decor, leather sofas & a soundtrack of indie, soul & funk will offend no one.

Another alternative which was nearer Westbourne Park station. I tried the Metropolitan and was very disappointed in the food. Grand Union next!

Unfortunately despite the excellent service – the food was again quite poor. I had the friend chicken to start – literally nuggets on a paper towel. Then for main, i had a burger but again, it seemed to have been sitting down for a long while before getting served.

Again, this place is far better than the Metropolitan for a drink as its much more comfy and welcoming inside. Service was great – its a pity the food is so far behind. I may use this for a drinks place but next time im heading down the road to The Westbourne or The Cow for food – pricier but miles ahead in terms of quality.
