The Mansion House

A TV screen large enough for the biggest of sporting spectaculars dominates the ground-floor bar at The Mansion House, while a dramatic painting dominates the stairs down to the basement brasserie. Sandwiches are to the fore on the menu: a cold salt beef sandwich with English mustard mayo, say. Lubrication from the short wine list includes £13.90 red or white house offerings, a 2005 La Crema Californian Pinot Noir at £29.90 & plenty of sub-£20 quaffing. Fizzes include both affordable non-vintage bottles & a 1999 Dom Perignon at £130. The bar’s wide-opening front windows create a summery mood in fine weather.
