Square Meal review of The Ebury:
The Ebury is under new management & although its ground-floor bar remains unchanged, the upstairs dining room is just about unrecognisable. Gone are the wacky flame-licked walls, replaced with a much more grown-up overall look & restrained colour scheme. Is the change for the better? Perhaps not: it’s now rather dull unless you come on one of the regular jazz nights; worse still, the cooking seems to have slipped. Steer clear of the more complicated offerings – who wants black pudding blended into their mashed potato anyway? – & tuck into treats from the crustacea bar. The flames live on in the crepes Suzette trolley, which is worth saving space for. The downstairs bar remains rammed & vibrant.
