Enormously popular with well-to-do Richmond families at the weekend, as well as locals enjoying a quick night out during the week, this smart gastropub caters exactly for its market. The great white conservatory housing most of this smart gastropub’s dining area is a home from home for customers & the menu’s mix of hip & traditional foods is right up their street. Sauteed lamb sweetbreads, wild boar sausages, grilled sardines with samphire, classic steaks & Sunday roasts are crowd-pleasers, even though the cooking itself is no great shakes & the service is at best patchy. Prices seem less dear now that other establishments have caught up, while the introduction of a new garden barbecue is a summertime hit.
