With little else to tempt them in Southfields, hungry gastronomes must either arrive early for dinner or risk enduring a long wait for the Earl’s down-to-earth dishes. The chalked-up menu changes twice daily & bread is baked fresh for lunch & dinner. Shell-on prawns, home-cured gravad lax & char-grilled pork chop with colcannon further demonstrate a knack for freshness. To help make the no-bookings policy tolerable there is Hook Norton beer & a diverse wine list to while away the time. Drivers are well served with homemade ginger or elderflower cordials.
