Southwark Rooms

Although there’s plenty going on in Southwark these days, its main thoroughfare is a namesake devoid of much atmosphere. Thank goodness, then, for the notable exception of Southwark Rooms, which is one of the area’s best places to chill with mates over beer, wine or one of the fab cocktails. There’s the odd conventional drink, but the list tempts you to try something more exotic – an Elderflower Martini, a Raging Buffalo (passionfruit, vanilla & bourbon) or even a Shakespeare in Love (Champagne, raspberry vodka, orange & cranberry). There’s a short lunchtime menu – burgers, pies & tempura prawns – while later on, finger food dominates.
