Haz does white tablecloth dining, Turkish-style. That doesn’t mean it’s expensive – quite the contrary: set menus & sub-£14 house wine (‘a bargain in City terms’) come highly recommended. Consistently very decent, with ‘diligent’ staff & rapid service, this group of bright & airy restaurants probably isn’t well known outside of the Square Mile, but it is warmly regarded inside of it. A selection of hot & cold starters such as taramasalata (definitely not the neon-pink sort), imam biyaldi, feta & spinach börek or fried squid start proceedings nicely, before the main event – something from the charcoal grill such as lamb shish or chicken kofte. It’s a posh kebab fix for City suits, if you will. Alternatively, try a gently spiced & stewed casserole or some simply grilled fish.
