Square Meal review of Cheyne Walk Brasserie & Salon:

Despite an out-of-the-way location, Cheyne Walk Brasserie has always been a popular spot, but in the last year it has gained some critics. There are no complaints about its good looks: housed in a former Victorian pub, the high-ceilinged interiors are elegantly done out in red & powder blue & there’s a wonderful top-floor bar with river views. Recently, however, the unfussy food has been described as ‘decidedly average’ & ‘completely overpriced’, though for the moment, at least, hits outweigh misses: succulent frogs’ legs pan-fried in garlic butter might be followed by whole grilled sea bream with rich & creamy dauphinois potatoes, perhaps, or one of the ‘delicious grilled meats’. Opinions are no less divided over service, some finding staff ‘rude’, others ‘affable’ – let’s hope things get back on an even keel this year.
