Sheltered from busy Chelsea Embankment by cleverly planted greenery, this picturesque brasserie sets out its stall from the word go, with an open grill visible right by the entrance. The cooking is rooted in Provence, & the kitchen turns out a mix of delicate & robust dishes ranging from sea bream with lemon & bay leaves to Les Landes duck breast with honey sauce, plus a few punchier dishes from further afield – grilled prawns with harissa, say. The high-ceilinged dining room remains airy despite all that smoke & sizzle: large windows let in plenty of light & the fresh feel is further lifted by mint-green walls & bubblegum-blue banquettes. Diners, mostly Cheyne Walk residents & young Will-&-Kate lookalikes, can sip ‘fancy martinis’, deluxe cocktails or glasses of bubbly in the cosy adjoining bar. All at a price, of course.
