Square Meal review of Brasserie de Malmaison:

A great spot for dinner-dates, this sleek hotel diner tempts couples with moody lighting & high-backed banquettes, but its romantic air goes out the window (or, rather, the skylights) at lunchtime, when the bright space is better suited for business. The menu may be full of French brasserie classics – think foie gras with Sauternes jelly & steak with thin-cut chips – but sourcing is British & there’s even a ‘Homegrown Local’ menu from small suppliers in the south-east. Salad leaves, for instance, come from the much-lauded Secretts Farm & there’s delicious hot-smoked salmon from Maldon. Well-priced wines, an enticing cheese selection & some of London’s most comfortable dining chairs often make for lingering meals but the switched-on staff can offer speedy service where necessary.
