Square Meal review of 1802:
Located in a converted warehouse in the shadows of gleaming Canary Wharf, this atmospheric restaurant has stayed true to its industrial roots with exposed beams, rough wooden supports & bare brickwork. Part of the Museum in Docklands, which charts the history of the area, 1802 serves up straightforward grub that any dockworker would be happy to tuck into: juicy rib-eye steak & chorizo sandwich, wild mushrooms on toast & focaccia pizzas, plus bowls of spicy potato wedges to fill any gaps. Wash it all down with one of the unusual international beers on offer, such as Finnish Lapin Kulta. There’s the odd grumble over ‘average’ food & service, but there are no complaints about the lively vibe, the vast summer terrace, nor the snappy 45-minute lunch service which is handy for those rushing back to their desks.
