Members of the fairer sex tend to be pretty scarce at this incarnation of an overgrown, blokey common room. Generally rammed with City boys, the Elbow boasts no fewer than seven pool tables if you fancy showing off your cueing skills (£6/10 per hour, depending on when you go), with plenty of TVs showing Premiership football matches if you’re on a break between games. Hungry appetites are sated with burgers, wraps & chicken wings, & there’s a wide range of bottled & draught beers, along with shooters & shot racks for the courageous, plus a smattering of serviceable cocktails. If you want a table for more than an hour – highly likely when the booze starts flowing, or if there’s money involved – then pre-booking is essential.
