While most visitors acknowledge that Boxwood ‘isn’t up there with the rest of the Ramsay restaurants’ in terms of culinary finesse, in place of Michelin stars it does offer a ‘more relaxed’ dining experience much appreciated by its admirers, while still paying careful attention to food, drink & service. A diverse menu offers everything from pan-fried foie gras with spiced quince, & smoked salmon & sevruga caviar croque monsieur to slow-braised lamb’s neck with herb mash & girolles, & the must-try veal & foie gras burger served with cos lettuce, parmesan & chips. There are occasional quibbles over lacklustre execution (‘oily crab taglioni’), ‘small portions’ & ‘snooty staff’, but Boxwood has attracted a die-hard fanbase who consider it a ‘lovely, lovely place’ & keep the glamorous dining room buzzing throughout the week.
