Square Meal review of Brian Turner Mayfair:

With its restrained, contemporary decor & deferential service, there’s no mistaking that this is the dining room of a posh hotel, though with TV-chef Brian Turner at the helm, it’s one with a stronger British accent than you might expect from the rather muted surroundings. Despite Turner’s plain-speaking Yorkshire persona, the style of cooking here is far more complex than meat & two veg, so that rosemary-marinated prawns with a salad of shrimp, asparagus & crab might be followed by grilled veal loin & kidneys with truffled creamed potato, asparagus & garlic: both typical of the kitchen’s clever pairing of ingredients. Seven stickies & ports by the glass are available to accompany the selection of cheeses from around the British Isles. Steep prices reflect the Mayfair hotel location, but there’s no skimping on portion size & the quality of cooking is consistently sound. Nice bar, too.
