Never mind that it’s part of a chain, Masala Zone serves some of the best Indian food in Islington. The menu is a well-conceived collection of street food snacks (great sev puri with a selection of chutneys), subtly spiced main courses (knock-out Goan prawn curry) & thalis (platters featuring several small curries, rice & poppadoms) that bring a healthy balance of carbs, protein & vegetables to the table. It can all be washed down with fresh lemonade or sweet mango lassi. Bold, contemporary wall paintings decorate the sleek but utilitarian canteen & the clientele is groovier than the usual curry house cohort. Swift service & fair prices further the appeal.
