This mini-chain of Turkish restaurants comes from the people behind EV (see separate review), & combines the same successful formula of good Turkish food with north African flourishes, reasonable prices & a laid-back atmosphere. Mezze & grills get a consistent thumbs-up: from the former there are several winners such as enginar, made with fresh artichokes, carrots, potatoes, garlic & olive oil, while the latter includes such hits as the patlican exmeli kebab, made with minced lamb, aubergines & red pepper puree. The most attractive outpost of Tas is found on The Cut with bright, modern surrounds. The branch at 72 Borough High Street (tel: 7403 7200) is similar in style.
