Tooting is blessed with an abundance of Indian restaurants, but the smart money seeks out this vibrant branch of the Kerala Group chain. Decorated with huge murals of palm trees, sun & sand, RKB is not a venue where subtlety is a priority, & the jollity of the setting happily spreads to the customers. Basic high street curries are available for anyone who wants them; they’re cheap, perfectly serviceable & served with a smile. However, diners in the know choose the rather more exciting house specialities. The kitchen here has been celebrating the cooking of southern India, & more especially Kerala, for years, & its dosais & idlis are well worth sampling. Try too the Kerala fish curry, tangy with cocum (fish tamarind). Prices are low, standards generally high.
