Times have been tough for restaurants at St Katharine’s Dock, & this stately Indian is the only real alternative to Tradewinds if you want water views with your meal. The comfortable colonial interior is huge, which means plenty of window seats & elbow room. There’s a nod to the well-heeled Wapping hinterland in the pricing & the menu includes a few luxury dishes such as lobster tandoori marinated in yoghurt, lemon, garlic butter, herbs & spices; the more familiar tandoori dishes, chicken tikka masala & lamb rogan josh are present & correct & veggies are not forgotten. Set menus keep the price down in the evening, & the three-course £12.95 set lunch is, relatively speaking, a steal.
