High on testosterone & low on subtlety, The Grill on The Market seduces carnivores from the Square Mile with its sizzling selection of steaks. Rump, rib-eye & sirloin are the obvious ports of call for famished City suits, but scallops, mussels & lobster are also represented on the lengthy menu. Those with a bulging wallet & an empty stomach might opt for Wagyu kobe (‘the daddy of all steaks’ taken from a very fortunate cow that has been reared on beer & massaged from birth), matched with something beefy from the predictably ample selection of Old & New World reds. The interior of the dining room is a suitably opulent mix of over-the-top chandeliers, ornate mirrors & dusky lighting, although its boudoir excesses are not to everyone’s taste.
