Waikiki Beach meets hipster London at this popular subterranean rum bar. The tiki-tastic interiors remain as distinctive as ever, with wood-panelled walls, orange wool curtains and Dr Lynch paintings all creating a fantastically retro feel. Behind the bar, tattooed staff dispense rum-based cocktails such as punchy Mr Yellow Belly (Wray & Nephew white rum with lime, jerk and tamarind syrup) and the delightfully named on nom rom & pom (spiced and white rum, pomegranate and lime). If grog isn’t your bag, there are also plenty of alternatives including scaramanga, made with Bombay Sapphire gin, Campari, bitter orange and grapefruit soda. Bar snacks and a few substantial mains (jerk burger with banana ketchup, say) provide sustenance, but everything here is about the cocktails and the atmosphere.
