Despite a change of ownership, little about this subterranean, retro rum bar has changed. The 60s tiki get-up – complete with JH Lynch prints, wood-effect walls and patterned fabric – remains as distinctive as ever, while the staff are even friendlier than before. A new, souped-up cocktail list has spicy, Asian-influenced Mr yellow belly (Wray & Nephew white rum, lime, jerk and tamarind syrup) as the pick of the bunch, although cool cat in a hat (Diplomatico Exclusiva, Wray & Nephew, Galliano, orange tincture and Marasca cherry liqueur) runs it a close second – complete with a dark chocolate tiki head. A new menu serves up bar-friendly bites that won't break the bank – jerk burger with banana ketchup and blackened salmon with pickle salad both sit around a tenner.
