Square Meal review of Kandoo:
Diners who find the glitzy decor, pumping Arabic music & hustle & bustle of many Edgware Road eateries a little overwhelming should head to Kandoo, on the other side of the Marylebone flyover. The Persian restaurant is a calm spot with terracotta walls, Moorish tiles & a shaded garden out the back. Freshly cooked flat bread is perfect for mopping up mezze such as aubergine with yoghurt & fried onions, or chicken with egg, pickles & potato in mayonnaise. Mains are simple, fresh & arrive in large portions: char-grilled fish, lamb chops marinated in yoghurt or skewers of juicy chicken & lamb – all served with a huge mound of rice, a grilled tomato & salad. None of it costs very much & when you factor in BYO it’s exceptionally good value for money.
