This energetic old-timer has lost none of its buzz over the years. Mango Room is still bright & bubbly, & it bounces nightly to the beats of ska & reggae. An army of curried goat fans keep the three colourfully decorated dining rooms packed, returning for their favourite dish & the killer rum cocktails. But it’s not just the curry that stands out on the eclectic Caribbean menu: salt-cod fritters, ebony chicken wings, & salmon & papaya carpaccio all pack a tropical punch to start, then there’s jerk pork with rice & peas or monkfish medallions with spicy mango coulis. The roti bread is so popular it sells out regularly, & the mango & banana crème brûlée brings sunshine on a plate. Tardy staff (particularly when serving big groups) can be a downfall, but perhaps that adds to the Caribbean authenticity.
