As Indian bars go, this über-trendy subterranean den beneath the distinguished Cinnamon Club is more ‘millionaire’ than ‘slumdog’ with its rubber floors, leather walls and glitzy, glamorous vibe. Expert mixologists shake their stuff and rustle up Asian-themed concoctions in front of glass screens illuminated by clips from Bollywood classics: try the signature Cinnamon Club sour – a zippy mix of vodka, peach brandy with cucumber and lemon – or spice up the evening with a blend of sloe gin and curry ‘nectar’. Elsewhere, Cobra and Kingfisher are overshadowed by dark Belgian Maredsous Brun and Laotian rice beer, while the impressive range of single malts includes a vintage Macallan ‘Sherry Butt’ at £200 a glass. Solid fuel comes from small plates of Bengali-style crab cakes, lamb kebabs and other classy Indian nibbles.
