It may have been knocked off the top spot by the glamorous Champagne Bar at St Pancras, but Zander’s elongated 48m bar counter, clad in brushed stainless steel, is still a mightily impressive sight – especially on weekday evenings when expert mixologists shake for all they’re worth to keep up with thirsty post-work drinkers. Mules, mojitos & martinis are popular calls, but they are outdone by quirky signature drinks such as the de-congestion charge (rum, fresh watermelon, passion fruit juice & raspberry purée). Otherwise, pick from a nifty choice of beers & wines by the glass. As an adjunct to Bank Westminster, purple & grey-clad Zander can also be relied on to produce top-notch sharing platters, burgers, salads & suchlike to help soak up the liquor.
