The Willie Gunn is as far as Earslfield stretches to a gastropub, but the locals haven’t been shortchanged. Drop into the attractive front bar, dotted with deep leather chairs, for a casual drink with friends, & perhaps a snack of deep-fried mushrooms with garlic mayo, or bruschetta with cherry tomatoes & mozzarella. If you’re in a more romantic or formal mood, head to the restaurant at the back. Here, a meal from the globally influenced menu might commence with pan-fried squid with ginger & chilli noodles or imam bayildi (served, rather oddly, with crème fraîche). Move on to curried leg of lamb, mushroom risotto or a burger. Predictable puddings (sticky toffee, etc) might follow. The wine list has plenty of bottles made for drinking rather than savouring, for under £20.
