From the brightly coloured perspex mobiles endlessly circling in time with the kaiten conveyor belt to the no-nonsense high stool seating & buzzy balcony location above the Cabot Place mall, everything about this Canary Wharf outpost of Julian Metcalfe’s sushi chain has an underlying note of urgency. The menu is a short & snappy affair of sushi & sashimi – including a few vegetarian options – & is plumped out with soups, hot dishes & the surprise addition of Vietnamese crystal rolls filled with crab, duck or spicy tuna. Detox with green tea, try a pineapple zinger or wash it all down with Asahi beer, hot or chilled saké or one of the limited selection of house wines. Round off with fresh fruit or indulge with a very un-Japanese crème brûlée or chocolate mousse.
