Square Meal review of Tas Pide:
Unlike its nearby bright & modern siblings, this branch of Tas goes heavy on gimmickry, with a huge Anatolian rug cascaded at the entrance, chandelier-strewn ceilings, pottery artefacts dotted around the place & Alice in Wonderland-style itsy-bitsy chairs. The eye-catcher of the open-plan kitchen is the large, domed wood-fired oven, from which the house speciality pide (a cross between a pizza & a calzone) emerges filled with anything from oak-smoked cured beef, peppers & fresh mint to sardines, vine leaves & lemon rind. Beyond that, there’s a lengthy Turkish menu of hot & cold mezze, grilled meat & fish, & sickly-sweet puds. Popular with Globe theatre-goers looking for a cheap pre/post-show meal.
