Part of the Andaz Hotel next to Liverpool Street station, Eastway comes on as a New York-style, all-day brasserie with plenty to offer. To begin, it tries to attract work-bound commuters with a range of hot breakfasts, including pancakes with maple syrup, omelettes and bagels. Lighter bites follow as the day wears on, with a Med-inspired tapas menu including the likes of garlic prawns, barbecued pork belly and tomato bruschetta, serrano ham, and cheese platters. Alternatively, go for the carte and more fulsome dishes such as boeuf bourguignon, Goan-style spatchcock chicken or Jerusalem artichoke risotto, followed by blueberry cheesecake or a toasted marshmallow and Rocky Road brownie. If you’re waiting for a train, there’s also decent selection of booze – particularly if your taste is for classy Cognac or Calvados.
