The long, green panoramas on the walls of this elegant modern Italian nod to Holland Park up the road. Elsewhere, an eye-catching collection of spirits sits on a shelf & little pots of foliage grace the tables – splashes of personality in an otherwise chicly minimal space. Timo is something of a favourite with Kensingtonians, who praise the ‘excellent Italian food with a contemporary twist’ from a kitchen full of flair: wild boar bresaola with fresh baby artichoke & pecorino, braised guinea fowl ravioloni with beetroot butter & thyme, roast monkfish fillet in a basil crust with pumpkin cream &, should you still have room, espresso pannacotta. Staff are obliging & ‘always seem happy to see you’ – perhaps because Timo is not always as busy as its food & setting deserve. A generous three-course set menu at £16 is a good way to make your first acquaintance.
