This lively Clapham stalwart was strutting its Moroccan-themed stuff long before the High Street’s upmarket hike, and a revamped offer has helped to keep it ahead the game. The sultry North African-inspired interiors remain, complete with low tables and leather banquettes, while the bar still turns out a mean cocktail – with a comprehensive line-up of martinis and ‘two-for-one’ long drinks, such as a mango mai tai, sweetening the deal until 9pm. However, it’s the ‘great’ new menu that really surprises, with its cracking selection of international tapas dishes. The likes of seared sesame-crusted tuna with wasabi, mini Ibérico pork and foie gras burgers or crispy calamari are way beyond your average bar belly-fillers, with proper care and skill across the board. Things get lively of a weekend, so arrive early to take full advantage of Souk’s delights.
