Secreted away on a quiet residential street not far from the frenetic King’s Road, this dapper-looking ristorante with its primrose awnings is something of a local godsend. Passers-by might not notice it by day, but you can’t mistake the animated hubbub emanating from its relaxed, monochrome dining room in the evening. Photos signed by celebrity patrons and Italian greats provide a regular talking point among the neatly laid tables, while the kitchen deals in regional standbys with a Venetian bias – fettuccine with scallops and baby artichokes, wild boar sausages with polenta, sea bass ‘al cartoccio’ and trattoria desserts such as tiramisu or zabaglione. There are also some top-flight Italian wines to match the food. Owner Roberto Ziani and his ‘charming’ waiters stoke the atmosphere with dolce vita, welcoming everyone with open arms.
