Junior royals, rich Russians, rappers and regular red-carpet walkers have long adored it, now the legendary Whisky Mist back – ‘revealing a darkly glamorous spin on its Scottish heritage’, according to owner Nick House. The revamped Caledonian-meets-gothic decor now comprises suits of armour, ecclesiastical gubbins and stained glass windows, while the drinks list flaunts the best Bordeaux, big-buck bubbles, superior single malts and cocktails served in antique baronial vessels by tartan-toting servants. Recommended hits include Highland mews (Johnnie Walker Black, lemon sorbet, orange, lychee, gooseberry and vanilla jelly), mystic aroma (a thyme-infused Tanqueray martini), and Celtic revival (Ciroc red berry vodka, pepper, ginger and lemongrass, pink grapefruit…and rocket salad). After that, try some moves on the dance floor while DJs in a church pulpit spin the funky stuff. Also check out the Rusty Nail – an intimate late lounge recently added to the mix.
