Square Meal review of Zaika:
This handsome, modern restaurant continues to offer some of the best contemporary Indian cooking in London. Subtle spicing & noteworthy presentation are the hallmarks of dishes such as tandoori grouper marinated in ginger & chilli, partnered not only by Indian couscous but a Champagne & cardamom sauce that marries perfectly with the other flavours. But the traditional items are as strong a draw as the innovative modern ones: the coconut lamb, tempered with mustard seeds & curry leaves, is hugely satisfying, while a dish of boneless chicken legs, flavoured with fennel & coriander seeds, is equally well judged. Breads such as mushroom & truffle-oil naan, rice perfumed with saffron & cardamom & fantastic amuse-bouches are further pluses, while puddings include a handsomely flavoured rose water & vanilla creme brulee. The long wine list is a worthy accompaniment.
