Intimate & cosy with its pretty, feminine decor & calm atmosphere, Yming is a haven away from the hustle & bustle of Chinatown, serving up carefully prepared food delivered by polite, helpful service. The well-constructed menu explores different styles of Chinese cooking, from delicate dishes such as sizzling prawns with fresh mango to robustly flavourful braised aubergine. Those hankering after a touch of spice should go for the Szechuan dishes, including fiery shredded beef in chilli sauce. House specialities, particularly the succulent double-braised pork, are also well worth trying. Set-lunch & pre-theatre menus offer excellent value, alternatively it’s possible to push the boat out & order traditional banquet dishes such as beggar’s chicken (stuffed chicken wrapped in lotus leaves & then baked in a clay pot), though you’ll have to do it 48 hours in advance.
