Square Meal review of The Yard Bar:
The Yard’s refurbished ground-floor bar & upstairs Loft overlook an internal courtyard where a groovy light show has replaced the hideous trompe l’oeil mural. The atmosphere is less overtly cruisy, body fascistic or ageist than at many Soho gay bars. Spirits are only served as doubles – £6 for a Smirnoff & tonic – while wines are available by the glass & by the bottle at £13 in the case of a Blossom Hill rose. Lagers include Grolsch & Coors. Uplifting house rules at weekends with easy listening prevailing midweek.
