Vats Wine Bar & Restaurant

Set in villagey Lamb’s Conduit Street, Vats is an old-school wine bar with real charm. Long, narrow & cosy, there’s a coal fire for winter & a summer terrace. Jocular & speedy staff make it a popular lunchtime roost for legal eagles from nearby Lincoln’s Inn Fields, as well as suited & booted local Cock Robins & Jenny Wrens in for the post-work long haul. A trad 60-strong wine & bubbles list is dominated by the French, with Bordeaux & Burgundy prominent, although there’s the occasional Spanish, Italian & New World adventure. More than a dozen wines are sold by the (large) glass, & a menu of French brasserie & British dishes keeps the pinstripes happy.
