Since opening in 2002, Sophie’s has tirelessly drawn in the crowds to its down-to-earth surrounds of exposed brickwork, red banquettes & naked lightbulbs dangling from steel girders. A no-bookings policy & cracking cocktails ensure the bar area is always chock-a-block & the dining room is no less buzzing. The steaks are ‘consistently excellent’, ranging from a dainty 8oz fillet to a whopping 27oz Porterhouse to share, served with Sophie’s special sauce. For those not bovine-inclined there’s lobster & avocado club sandwich, fish & chips or smoked chicken salad, but whatever you choose it’s best brought to a calorific close with sticky toffee pud. Service is impeccable, but get there early or ‘you could face a good 90-minute wait’.

A big favourite among many of my friends but I have always failed to understand the buzz about the place. The usually long wait for a table can be quite alright if you're a group and are able to pass time at the bar. The food itself isn't that great although passable and sometimes fairly alright. Service tends to be sub-par most often. I guess that it is a steakhouse and should rated as such, but I still think this place has a lot left to do to impress me. The big upside is that the atmosphere is usually lively and energetic and it's therefore a pretty good place to start an evening.

There is little one can say about Sophie's Steakhouse.

Fantastic for steaks. Other dishes look very good also. Sides are traditional steak house types – creamed spinach.

Very buzzy atmosphere of chelsea professional types.

Does get very busy and therefore could have to wait up to an hour and ten minutes, as happened on one occassion arriving there at 19:45 on a Saturday, but the wait is a testament to the good food, great atmosphere and friendly staff.
