The Social

Now 12 years old, this DJ bar born to the Heavenly Records crew is happily showing no signs of becoming a stroppy teenager – the retro surrounds have worn well with age & the playlist is as funky as ever. Grab one of the curved blond-wood booths on the tiny ground floor for a snack (chilli with nachos, Welsh rarebit, burgers, beans on toast) or pick from the equally concise cocktail menu. Bypass the obvious martinis, Manhattans & mojitos in favour of something more esoteric – perhaps an apple crumble (El Dorado rum, apple schnapps & Goldschläger served long with lime, vanilla syrup & apple juice). Meanwhile, the real party is always downstairs, where live gigs & DJ sets fill the room & the fun-loving crowd always has time to be social.
