Always exotic & enticing from the outside, they beckon with the promise of contemporary ‘Thai-insipred’ interiors, elegantly clad staff & extravagant set menus. These aren’t the places for some satay sticks or a plate of pad thai (try your local pub for that); the cuisine is rather more ambitious, with lamb shank in a dry curry sauce, larb (northern-style minced chicken salad), whole Dover sole ‘with a three-flavoured sauce’, & lobster specials among the options.
