Situated on one of those picture-perfect backstreets that looks like a set from The Avengers, The Terrace is named after its USP, which is generous, box-hedged & far prettier than the smartish but simply decorated dining room inside. Prime pricing is matched by prime ingredients – the fishcakes, for instance, are filled with lobster as well as salmon – but the kitchen is attuned to the tastes of its well-heeled customers. The likes of asparagus & scallop salad with mango compote, honey-roast magret of duck with shallot compote, parsnip puree, tarragon & balsamic sauce, & prune & sultana steamed pudding with chocolate ice-cream receive the sort of care & attention that ensures loyal repeat trade.
