A tas is a traditional Turkish cooking pot, & the popular mini-chain that bears its name aims to recreate some of the warmth of home with its welcoming vibe & honest food. You may not be curled up chez vous, but the relaxed yet spruce surrounds & attentive service should make youfeel pretty comfortable. Hot & cold mezze coverthe familiar bases such as dolma (stuffed vine leaves), calamari & hoummos, as well as more upbeat ideas including tutsulu somon (smoked salmon with parsley, onion & tomato salad & pomegranate sauce). Big meaty shish, kofte & steaks arrive from the grill & the menu also extends to veggie mains, fish dishes & casseroles such as bademli tavuk (chicken with almonds, green peppers & tomatoes). Good-value set menus, too.

Upon arrival you are given complimentary olives, and hummus with crusty bread. I went for the utterly cheap Sahan set menu for £9.95. For starters I had the red lentil soup. Main course; lamb shish with cous cous and a chilli salsa...
