Euro-Pacific is the catch-all culinary theme at Tao, where the menu finds Italian classics & brasserie staples nestling alongside the straightforwardly British & a few choices that are rather harder to define. So you might start with salt & pepper squid or Parma ham with grapes before a main course of guinea fowl roulade with tomato, ricotta & herb stuffing, a Thai green curry or even beer-battered fish & chips. The wine list couldn’t possibly range as far & wide &, Champagne aside, it’s a largely Italian affair. The 1990s decor is handsome, there’s plenty of space in the ground-floor bar & more formal basement alike, plus an attractive courtyard.
