Pretty as a Tuscan sunset & with some of the Square Mile’s most coveted alfresco tables hidden away in its courtyard, this ‘ever faithful’ City stalwart – which has been established in the area since the late 1960s – has at last got round to opening in the evening. But, whatever time you decide to visit, the sure-footed cooking is a broadly similar mix of hot & cold antipasti, pasta & mains, taking in the likes of tagliatelle with a creamy smoked salmon, asparagus & dill sauce, grilled scallops with lime, smoked pancetta & rocket, or perhaps a sautéed veal chop with butter & sage. The wine list is Italian-led, with a 2010 Vernaccia di San Gimignano Panizzi among the regional offerings & a snappy international selection by the glass. Notable new private room downstairs.
