Known for its dependable but none-too-daring international menu & smart decor, Smollensky’s on the Strand is a tireless crowd pleaser. Despite its basement setting, huge windows admit plenty of light in to the split-level space, which is roughly divided into a sizeable bar area to one side & a recessed dining area to the other. Burgers, grilled steaks & rich desserts are available next to more adventurous dishes such as beetroot carpaccio with Seville orange or Cajun jambalaya. During the week, the speedy lunch service & live jazz in the evenings have a strong fan base, while children love the weekend lunches when there are Punch & Judy puppet shows, clowns & face painting on offer.
