Square Meal review of Singapura:
This must be one of the City’s deepest basements, yet Singapura dispels gloom with its bright modern decor & cheery welcome. The menu has recently moved away from its focus on the Nonya cooking of the Malay peninsula’s Straits settlements to include a wider range of south-east Asian dishes, so instead of satay skewers you could start with Thai tom yum goong soup or Vietnamese spring rolls before an equally eclectic choice of mains: beef rendang curry, sambal udang – tiger prawns in a hot & spicy nonya-style sauce – or braised magret duck in soy sauce with galangal & star anise. The veggie options include a classic Indonesian gado gado salad with eggs & spicy peanut sauce.
