Whether the name pays homage to Savile Row tailors or not, Sartoria is hardly the height of food fashion – although its wide aisles, comfy sofa seating & generous space exude plain, commonsense luxury without the need for high premiums. Regionally themed lunch options (from £20), for example, showcase a different province each month, Sardinia yielding braised suckling pig with fennel, ricotta & bottarga on crispbread, for example. Otherwise, stump up for the traditional four-course format, which delivers high notes including roast monkfish on onion purée with crispy Parma ham or impeccably cooked veal cutlet with spinach – although pasta is the real star (try bucatini with cured pork cheek & tomatoes). Service operates with a formal but friendly flourish, & regulars particularly appreciate the long-serving sommelier’s advice on saving or spending.
