At its best, this SW19 outpost of the rather more famous restaurant in SW3 embodies all that is expected from a trusty, old fashioned trattoria: regulars are greeted by name & served familiar, consistently prepared dishes from a seasonal menu. The food’s pretty good & the staff are very professional. But much of the time it feels as dated & tired as the 70s smoked glass tables & cane chairs. Moreover, high prices keep it a haunt of mainly grey-haired locals & businessmen, except during Wimbledon fortnight, when the players, their agents & their agents’ agents inhabit the place.
