The battle of the sexes rages in pictorial form at this brick-vaulted sibling of El Vino, with images of boys’ toys – from E-type Jaguars to super-bikes – fighting it out against reproductions of Tamara de Lempicka’s graceful, art deco portraits. But that’s pretty much where conflict ends, because Ruskins is a convivial spot, with high stools for drinkers at the bar, a formal dining area with crisp white napery, & a curtained alcove with comfortable leather club chairs. The menu covers a lot of ground, from grilled portobello mushroom with broccoli, parmesan, pesto & mixed salad to char-grilled chicken breast with Mediterranean vegetables, rib-eye steaks & a homemade pie of the day. Wine comes courtesy of El Vino – appropriate since the mini-chain had its origins right here on Mark Lane.
