Creamy cocktails and smaller dress sizes are sworn enemies. Mindful of this, the airy lobby bar/lounge at The Trafalgar Hotel now provides a range of ‘health-conscious' slimline alco-tonics. At 95 calories, lemon camellia (lemongrass, green tea and Champagne) not only detoxifies but can (allegedly) help speed up your metabolism, while a vodka and Cointreau-based pomegranate power booster is (apparently) also loaded with vitamins. Of course, you could cut out the alcohol and sip sweet gingerol, one of various low-cal mocktails on offer. Meanwhile, those who have stopped worrying altogether might prefer a full-fat sweet Manhattan plus a few nibbles from the all-day Eurasian menu – perhaps plum-marinated chicken wings with chilli mango salsa, vegetable tempura or grilled lobster with saffron aïoli, followed by a regime-busting cheeseboard or dark chocolate tart with clotted cream.
